There’s something quietly powerful about pressing refresh.
Not a full reinvention, just a gentle realignment. New setups, a softer flow, and more intention in the way things feel and move. That’s where I find myself right now, both in my work and in life.
I’m Sarah, the photographer behind Sarah Bowley Photography, a family and wedding photographer on the Copper Coast in South Australia, and this space has been a long time coming.
I photograph families, couples, and weddings with a focus on the in-between moments, the ones that feel ordinary until you realise they aren’t. The soft chaos of family life, the quiet nerves before a ceremony, the laughter that bubbles up when no one is trying too hard.
My sessions and wedding days are calm, playful, and gently guided. There’s no pressure for perfection here. Children are welcome to be children. Couples don’t need to perform. Wedding days are allowed to unfold naturally. Some of the most meaningful images live in the beautifully imperfect spaces.
Over the years, life has shaped the way I photograph in ways I couldn’t have planned. I’ve walked through seasons of loss, waiting and uncertainty, experiences that changed how I see time and how deeply precious these fleeting moments are. Because of that, I photograph with patience, softness, and care. I understand that behind every family and every love story is a layered, deeply personal journey.
Being a mum to Ellie and Luna, has only deepened that understanding. I know how loud and fast life can be. How quickly one chapter slips into the next. That’s why my approach to family and wedding photography is grounded in slowing things down, creating space for real emotion, honest connection, and moments that feel true to you.
I’ve wanted to start this blog because there’s a lot of heart behind what I do, and it doesn’t always fit into a square on Instagram. This feels like a slower, quieter space — somewhere I can share more of the stories, thoughts, and moments that shape my work… without worrying about character limits or whether the algorithm approves.
